Application integration between Salesforce and Lotus Notes improves European mortgage company's operations
A growing European mortgage lender wanted to provide faster, accurate application processing to gain competitive advantage. It sought application integration between Salesforce and Lotus Notes for faster application intake and processing, as well as delivery of more complete, current information to mortgage agents communicating on the front-line with applicants.
Rather than waiting for field-based agents to send applications and supporting documentation via mail, integration of Salesforce with its headquarters-based document management system would allow direct submission, speedier processing and superior customer service. Following salesforce.com’s recommendation, the company selected Pervasive Software to provide integration software and
implementation services.

Nearly 150 field offices run by direct and associated agents will use the new process, allowing the mortgage lender to gain efficiency
and accuracy in the mortgage loan application process and contribute to its market leadership.
A need for quick, reliable, bi-directional data and application integration
Under a tight deadline, could the company’s project team effectively bridge information between Salesforce and Lotus Notes in order to improve the efficiencies and accuracy of its document management system? If they could, the company stood to gain competitive advantage in the mortgage lending market. If the company did not, it could lose a valuable strategic opportunity. The company needed a quick, reliable data and applications integration solution to integrate the SaaS and on-premise systems. The solution had to be able to provide bi-directional capability and successfully integrate some 50 objects containing important data as well as linking to scanned documents in JPEG and GIF formats. The solution also had to provide frequent updates to provide agents with near real-time information.
Pervasive Professional Services helps deliver bi-directional integration between Salesforce and Lotus Notes
Salesforce.com, having worked closely with Pervasive as the integration provider in scores of its accounts worldwide, recommended that the company consider the Pervasive Professional Services Group (PSG) to handle design and deployment of the bi-directional integration between Salesforce and Lotus Notes. After a successful proof of concept was delivered, PSG embarked on the production project.
The Pervasive team worked remotely from Pervasive headquarters in Austin to complete most of the development as efficiently as possible, using remote access to develop directly on the customer’s system. For final touches and deployment, a Pervasive consultant traveled to the company’s headquarters in Europe to complete the integration in just five days. The project team was favorably impressed by PSG’s can-do expertise.
PSG completed the complex project, from initial scoping to phase one deployment, within 40 days. The team lead said the Pervasive project manager, “He really knew his stuff and he was so highly positive.” Going forward, he said, “This has proven to be a reliable system and the support has been super. We have had a very open, positive working relationship with the Pervasive professional services team as well, and they brought the project in on time and on budget. Now, how many companies can you say that about?”

“We feel very good about this project, and expect tangible outcomes to soon follow. Right now 20 offices are ramped up, and another 150 are to follow. The corporate office and field offices are seeing much better document management control and faster loan processing,” the systems manager said. All told, some 450 agents will be using automated processes to send and receive mortgage loan information when the rollout is completed.
