Efficiency

Pervasive Data Integrator enables Air Korea to quickly re-map with little effort. Annie Tran, manager of Decision Support System, Information Technology Development Center (ITDC) at Korean Air said, "Pervasive Data Integrator is flexible and functional as well. Previously, we would have to export data from our server to an application then spend hours mapping. Now, once the process has been established to extract, transfer, and load, we don’t spend additional time re-mapping with each transfer. With thousands of existing records being updated weekly and new records being processed, this new capability translates into a significant timesavings for us."

Korean Air moves to hosted CRM in effort to control vast and everchanging data

Korean Air works with vast and everchanging data from travel agencies, vendors and alliance partners. Tracking information often has relied on verbal requests and manual processing. In order to better manage data, Korean Air’s American region chose online Customer Relationship Management (CRM) through Salesforce. To standardize and transfer its data to Salesforce.com, the airliner opted to use Pervasive® Data Integrator™. Selecting Pervasive has resulted in greater data control and efficiency in standardizing and transferring data.

To standardize and transfer data to online CRM for enhanced capabilities and greater control

The mobile sales force of Korean Air manages 10,000 travel agency relationships, as well as alliance partner and vendor accounts. Manually tracking thousands of records, including sales activities, promotions, and historical agency sales information, was inefficient and often difficult to perform. When a Korean Air salesperson left the company, his sales information and contact history often went with him.

Korean Air determined that in order to gain better control over its sales activity, the data needed to be standardized and centralized, and that online access to the current information should be provided to salespeople no matter their location. Choosing Salesforce as its online CRM was the first step; however, connecting and integrating its in-house data warehouse of sales-related information and Salesforce would prove critical for the initiative to work.

Pervasive Data Integrator for quick remapping, less human error risk and cohesive data

The main obstacle in getting data from Air Korea's servers to Salesforce was an API that was not offered by the airline’s existing ETL tools. Therefore, Salesforce.com recommended Pervasive Software. "Pervasive Data Integrator had the required API connectivity to Salesforce. It was key in enabling us to pull agency sales data from our database, despite varying formats, and upload it into Salesforce for greater accessibility and less risk for human error,” says Annie Tran, manager of Decision Support System Technology at ITDC, Korean Air. “When a salesperson makes contact with a customer, details of the meeting and account updates can be transcribed. Pervasive Data Integrator is used to transfer the information from our server into Salesforce. Sales managers can instantly view and track account details without having to locate the traveling salesperson.”

Since Salesforce limited each batch data load to 500 records at that time, Tran was pleased that Pervasive Data Integrator enabled her to quickly re-map with little effort. “I used to have to re-map with every 500 records, often spending days mapping and re-mapping about 10,000 records per week. That number is expected to grow exponentially over the next few years,” explains Tran.“With Pervasive Data Integrator, the software automatically re-maps for me with minimal work on my part. It has been a tremendous timesaver and enables me to focus on core aspects of my job.”

Korean Air gains data control, efficiencies through robust, easy-to-use Pervasive Data Integrator

The agency, alliance partner and vendor information of Korean Air is now entirely housed in Salesforce. Using Pervasive Data Integrator, Tran uploads data weekly to be shared and viewed on Salesforce from anywhere in the world. “Sales information is finally at the company’s fingertips, thanks in large part to Pervasive,” says Annie Tran, manager of Decision Support System, Information Technology Development Center (ITDC) at Korean Air. “We have efficient, accurate, and well-organized account information that translates into better customer relationships.”

Pervasive allows Tran to regain her most valuable asset: Time. “Pervasive’s economical solution provides Korean Air with exceptional value,” she says. “Pervasive Data Integrator is flexible and functional as well. Previously, we would have to export data from our server to an application then spend hours mapping. Now, once the process has been established to extract, transfer, and load, we don’t spend additional time re-mapping with each transfer. With thousands of existing records being updated weekly and new records being processed, this new capability translates into a significant time savings for us. Because of the API connectivity Pervasive offers, it also gives us the ability to upload our queried data to Salesforce fields and to extract data from Salesforce.com tables into our servers for easier decision-support reporting.”

Pervasive Data Integrator for other ETL needs

Air Korea's data warehouse initiative also will soon benefit from Pervasive Data Integrator, replacing Korean Air’s current ETL tool. Tran will use the Pervasive product to load source sales data directly into its data warehouse, saving even more time. Annie Tran, manager of Decision Support System, Information Technology Development Center (ITDC) at Korean Air expects training new employees on a single ETL tool will become easier and less expensive for the company.
