Pervasive REST Invoker
Representational State Transfer (REST) Web services have been gaining popularity, and Pervasive offers strong support for this capability with the Pervasive REST Invoker.
REST implementations are rapidly becoming a favorite among integration architects because of the lightweight and flexible nature of REST. The Pervasive REST component provides an efficient and flexible way to interact with any Web Service. This component allows you to use the HTTP protocol as a communication channel between enterprise and distributed applications in unsecure and secure (SSL) modes.

SOAP and WDSL Integration
A Web service creates a system in which software and services from different organizations and locations are combined to provide an integrated service. Using text-based open standards and protocols, web services provide for reuse of services and components within an infrastructure.
The public interface of a web service is often described in a machine-processable format such as Web Service Description Language (WSDL). Standards including Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) facilitate the exchange of XML-based messages.

HTTP/HTTPs Integration
Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is the main communication standard between clients and servers on the world wide web. Pervasive fully supports web service integration across both HTTP and secure HTTP pathways.
FTP/FTPs Integration
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) uses a connection over a Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) network to transfer files between two computer systems, a local host and a remote host. While you are logged on to a local host and running its FTP program, you can transfer files to and from a remote host by means of a server program that resides on the remote host.
This protocol is frequently used to transfer files between businesses in a B2B Data Exchange integration scenario. Pervasive allows easy monitoring of FTP locations and processing of files sequentially.

Message Queues
Message queues provide a passageway for messages between applications, users and systems. It is an asynchronous communication method, meaning the message giver and receiver do not need to both access the message at the same time. The queue stores the message until the recipient has reviewed it.
Pervasive software is fully compatible with most types of message queues, including IBM WebSphere MQ, MSMQ, Oracle AQ, WebSphere MQ (MQSeries) any JMS-compliant queue, and also allows file folders and FTP folders to be processed as if the files were in a queue.
For more information, see:
XML
XML helps you create Web pages, define content, share structured data, structure documentation, and reuse the content you create for other applications. Custom validation structures can be defined and stored in DTD files. XML is commonly used as a message format in web service interfaces and message queues, as well as for a variety of common data storage purposes.
The intelligent Pervasive XML data connector easily reads and writes XML, and displays it in the Data Browser in a tree view, or a view of any particular element you choose to spotlight. Pervasive reads DTD files and will also create them based on your specifications. In addition, Pervasive features several transformer components that automatically convert industry standard files like NCPDP and HL7 from their text formats to their XML counterparts and back.
